David Irigoyen Joins the Staff of SHC
Tuesday, March 17, 2009

David E. Irigoyen, FACHE, has joined DJ Sullivan Healthcare Consulting, Inc. (SHC), to lead the anesthesia consulting service line. During more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, David spent nine years as CEO of two large physician-owned private anesthesiology practices in competitive markets. Additionally, he successfully led the surgical services division for the Geisinger Health System (a 500 physician multi-specialty integrated delivery system in Pennsylvania) through its matrix conversion in its Eastern Region medical center.

David has extensive experience with insurance contract negotiation that has netted private practices millions of dollars in additional income. He is also skilled at mediating and negotiating contracts between hospitals and anesthesia groups and has successfully led practice groups through various merger processes and compensation plan modifications. Notably, David’s anesthesia practices have exceeded MGMA benchmark goals for net collection rates and days in accounts receivable.

In his role at SHC, David will draw upon his experience to drive new consulting efforts focused on maximizing negotiating opportunities within the anesthesia practice area for hospitals, surgicenters, and anesthesia groups. In addition, he will direct initiatives aimed at effective evaluation, analysis, and improvement of current anesthesia business practices for client organizations. David’s unique background qualifies him to provide a broad perspective to all his client engagements, resulting in proven return on consulting dollar investment.

David is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), a nominee American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the highest professional credential attainable by members of the ACHE. He earned his undergraduate degree in business management from the University of Louisville and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

SHC specializes in perioperative consulting services and implementation management, and provides implementation support for all SHC evaluation and design projects.
